Gun Tac Triples
June 8, 2019 @ 9:15am
The Gunn Tac trophy was donated by Dorothy Louie, a Royal member during the 1990s. She dedicated it to her good friend Gunn Tak who loved to play triples. This year, in this tournament, we are again trying the new format from Bowls Canada.
This is 2 bowl triples where each player gets to roll only Two bowls each end.
It is an attempt to speed up the game. You will keep the same team through the whole game
We will play 3 – 12 end games, with the draw at 9:30, with play commencing as soon as everything is ready. We stop for our “bring-your-own” lunch mid-day. Coffee, tea, cool drinks and cookies are provided by the Club. There is no entry fee, but the 1st place team will be immortalized on our Tournament Trophy and other prizes as well. As one of our rinks is unplayable at the moment, the maximum # players is 42 (7 rinks x 6 bowlers).
- – first by total game points (win=3, tie=1, loss=0)
- – then by total number of ends won
- – then by total aggregate score (your score minus opponent’s score)
Registration is now open. It will close on June 7 at 9:15 am (24 hours before check-in time). Sign-up as a single bowler, and we will make up teams.
We will email you a confirmation and a link to change your response if needed.
After registration is closed, you will need to contact Dennis at email@example.com or 780-298-0311 (text preferred) to see if there are any spaces left to register, or to cancel your registration.
June 23, 2019 @ 9:15am for check-in
Highlands and Commonwealth members are invited to this event. It’s “crazy” because different non-conventional rules are used in scoring each end. For example, bowls to the left of the jack might be excluded from the count in the fifth end. Or a coin might be flipped to either double the second end score, or change it to zero. Lots of fun!
Participants will play three 6-end games with the same team. If people want to share positions on a team ie. play 1 or 2 games not all, this will be allowed. Teams are chosen at 9:30 am. The first game starts at 9:45 am. Bring your own lunch. Coffee, tea, cool drinks, and snack-food are provided by the Club.
There is no entry fee.
As one of our rinks is unplayable at the moment, the maximum # players is 42 (7 rinks x 6 bowlers, triples).
First come, first served – so be sure to register early to be certain to play! The winning team will be determined by total game points (win=3, tie=1, loss=0). In the event of ties between teams, there will be a “spider” bowl-off amongst opposing skips.Online registration will open on June 2. All bowlers registering on June 2 will have an equal chance of participating. After day 1, June 2, it will be first-come, first-served until we have our quota of 42. If we are over-subscribed, we may go to a different format to accommodate everyone, depending on the numbers, or just have a few spares on a waiting list.
