Heritage Day Crazy Bowl
Note: Cutoff for entry is noon on Friday August 2!!
Three different games will be played with more ways to score.
Game One - MAD MAX …
Triples Game of 8 ends where MAXimizing the team score is the ultimate goal and every bowler can score points for their team with every bowl they throw. Each bowler throws three bowls and game starts as per normal. After the leads have thrown all their bowls, the team with the closest bowl to the jack is awarded two bonus points. After the seconds have thrown all their bowls, the team at that time with the closest bowl to the jack is awarded two bonus points. After the skips have thrown all their bowls, the end is scored normally. EXTRA BONUS …. In any end, any and all touchers are awarded two bonus points even if the bowls are not part of the count for that end. Because both teams can possibly score on some ends, teams will alternate leading off ends for the whole game regardless of who scored or how many points were scored.
Game Two – ROLL IT & BOWL IT
A triples game of skill and of chance …. 6 ends. Normal triples bowling throwing three bowls each except once it is determined which team is starting the game, a member of that team will roll a die. Whatever number from one to six is rolled will determine how the end is scored as per the chart below. Before each subsequent end, a bowler from the team closest to the jack will roll the die and again, whatever number is rolled from one to six will determine how the end is scored. After a number has been rolled and used in the game …. It cannot be used again. Keep rolling the die until an unused number is rolled.
Roll a 1. Yardstick scoring … all bowls fully within a yardstick of the jack score one each.
Roll a 2. Cutthroat Extra … Closest four bowls count 4,3,2,1 point respectively
Roll a 3. No bowls fully in front of the jack can count
Roll a 4. No bowls fully behind the jack can count
Roll a 5. You must roll all your bowls with your non dominant hand, normal scoring
Roll a 6. Double Jack …. Both leads throw out a jack, normal scoring
EXTRA BONUS …. In any end, any and all touchers are awarded two bonus points even if the bowls are not part of the count for that end. Because both teams can possibly score on some ends, teams will alternate leading off ends for the whole game regardless of who scored or how many points were scored.
Game Three - DOUBLE JACK
A triples game with each bowler using 3 bowls each and playing 8 ends. Each lead will throw out a jack before the end starts. They are not centered but stay where thrown as long as they are in the rink and regulation length. Bowling alternates normally. Scoring is normal as well but a bowl may count with both jacks depending upon the proximity, so no bowls should be moved or removed until scoring is acknowledged by both seconds. Bowlers can bowl to either jack at any time and skips may have suggestions as to best team option.
