Heritage Day Crazy Bowl 2025
Note: Cutoff for entry is midnight on Saturday August 2!!
This year this is a Bring Your Own Lunch event. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
We will bowl three games of with varying fomats. Teams will be randomly formed based on number of entries. Number of people on a team will depend upon the number of entries. We encourage everyone to plan to play all three games but if you are not able to you can indicate so in the comments field of the signup or let the event coordinator know once you are there.
Play starts promptly at 10:00 AM but please be there between 9:30 and 9:45 to register and help set up.
Schedule
Game 1: Powerplay – Penalty Kill
Format: Triples • 8 Ends • 3 Bowls Each
Flip a coin or bowl to determine which team chooses their first powerplay end.
Each team selects two powerplay ends:
Winning team chooses first.
Opponent chooses two.
Winning team picks their second powerplay last.
During a Powerplay:
Powerplay team scores double points if they win the end.
Penalty Kill team plays one fewer bowl per player.
If Penalty Kill team wins the end, they receive their score plus 1 bonus point.
All other ends follow normal scoring rules.
Game 2: A Jack Too Far
Format: Triples • 6 Ends
Standard triples play, alternating bowls between teams.
After each end:
The bowl furthest from the jack is removed from the game — it does not score and cannot be used in future ends.
The scoring team leads the next end.
Special Rules:
Bowls out of bounds or in the ditch (non-touchers) are also removed.
If a player loses all their bowls, opponents may throw consecutively.

Game 3: Mad Max
Format: Triples • 8 Ends • 3 Bowls Each
Teams alternate leading each end.
Bonus Points:
After leads play: team with the closest bowl scores 1 bonus point.
After seconds play: team with the closest bowl scores 1 bonus point.
End is then scored normally after skips finish.
Touchers Bonus:
Every toucher earns 1 bonus point, even if it doesn’t count in the final tally.
Every player has a chance to contribute to the score on every end.
