Royal Sundowner Registration
The Sundowner date and time has now changed due to impending poor weather. It will now be held on Sunday June 29, starting with a BBQ at 4:30 pm and bowling starting at 6:00 pm sharp. The event is again open to all members, so if you were not able to make the friday time but can make the new time please register. All players registered for the original Friday time are asked to re-register as we suspect some will not be able to make it at the new time.
We will play two games of triples with a fun twist. After dessert, you’ll have the option to stay and compete in The Sundowner, an individual Cutthroat game played until sunset!
Jerry Close is the tournament director for this event. Please contact him at jerry@apacheseeds.ca with any questions or if you need to change your registration. This will be a very fun event and a great chance to enjoy our long summer evenings in Edmonton. This is a great event for our new members to get to know our other club members and experience some other bowling formats.
In order to properly plan for food and games we need to know how many are coming. So please complete the registration below. If you have serious food related issues please contact Morag directly to advise her at moragedmonton@shaw.ca
Cut off date for registration is Saturday June 28 at 9:00 PM.

Event Details: The first 2 games will be played as teams. Triples Format will be used with each player using 3 bowls. After game one there will be a short break while the teams are reshuffled and game two will then start right away. Your commitment to play both of the first two games would be greatly appreciated. After game two we will have our post dinner dessert break. During this time all bowlers wishing to continue play until sunset will be assigned to a lane to play the final game of the night.
Game One Details: Double Jack Game, 6 Ends, 3 Bowls each
Flip a coin or a bowl to determine who starts. The first lead will throw out a jack. As long as it crosses the hogline it stays where thrown. The other lead now also throws out a jack. Again, it stays where thrown. The first lead then starts play as normal and the shots alternate as per a normal game. Bowlers can shoot to either jack during play and bowls around both are scored normally but there is a chance that one or more of your bowls may actually count with both jacks depending upon how they lie. Skips may ask you to aim for a specific jack to help cut down opposition scoring or to build a wall around one of them for a higher team score. As both teams could conceivably score on each end and perhaps tie, teams will alternate leading off ends regardless of which team scored or how many points were scored.
Game Two Details: The Roundabout Game, 6 Ends, 3 Bowls Each
A fairly normal triples game with two twists. After the second end, players rotate order of play on their teams, meaning the skip will now play lead, the lead plays second and the second then skips the next two ends. After the fourth end all players move to the one position they haven’t played yet to finish the game. As a bonus, every bowl that is rolled into contact with the jack (a toucher) gets one bonus point for that team, even if they do not score points for the end. So every bowler has a chance to score points for their team with every bowl they throw.
Game Three Details: The Sundowner, Every Man/Woman for Themselves, 6 Ends, 3 bowls
Depending upon how many bowlers stay to play; lanes will have two, three or maybe four bowlers each playing for themselves in a Cutthroat Scoring Game. The three closest bowls to the jack will score, three, two and one point respectively.
Prizes will be awarded to winning teams and individuals for all games!
Join us for a great evening of bowling!
