U-Pick Fun Bowl 2025
OK, here is your chance. You get to have input into the format of our last (liekly) weekend event of the year. Listed below are several different game formats and scoring formats. When you register for this event you get to pick which games and scoring formats you prefer. No guarantee that yours will be chosen but we will go with the majority.
This is a Bring Your Own Lunch event. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
We will bowl three games of with varying fomats. Teams will be randomly formed based on number of entries. Number of people on a team will depend upon the number of entries and preferred games. We encourage everyone to plan to play all three games but if you are not able to you can indicate so in the comments field of the signup or let the event coordinator know once you are there.
Play starts promptly at 10:00 AM but please be there between 9:30 and 9:45 to register and help set up.
Game options
You will get to choose 3 options from the list below:
1. Mad Max - Bonus point awarded after leads and seconds have thrown all bowls plus normal end scoring with a bonus point for each Jack Hit.
2. Double Jack - each lead roles a jack and bowls can score for closest to either or both jacks.
3. Jack Ladder - mat is placed approx. two meters past two meter mark. Jack is centered on the far T-line. After each end, it is placed an additiona 2 yardsticks closer to the mat end.
4. Normal pairs game
5: Aussie Pairs (2-4-2) - leads roll 2 bowls, then skips 4, then leads last 2. Next end skips roll 2, then leads 4, then skips 2. Continue rotation each end. Normal scoring.

7. Alternate forehand/backhard - Each end, the first lead chooses to throw forehand or backhand. The other lead must throw the opposite. The second on the first team must also throw opposite from their lead as will the second on the second team. The skip of the first team then throws the same as the lead and the other skip must throw the same as its lead threw.
Scoring options
You will get to choose your preferred scoring option from the list below:
1. Normal -closest to the jack scores one point, next gets another if on same team, etc. Only one team scores each end.
2. Yardstick - all bowls within a yardstick measure of the jack get one point. Both teams can score.
3. Cutthroat - closest bowl scores 3 points, next closest 2 points, third closest 1 point regardless of which team they are on. Both teams can score each end.
