Play starts promptly at 10:00 AM but please be there between 9:30 and 9:45 to register and help set up.

Schedule
Game 1: Forhand, backhard alternate switch - yardstick scoring
Eight ends - 3 bowls each - triples match. At the start of each end, the first lead gets to choose to throw forehand or backhand. The other lead must throw the opposite turn. The second on the first team also gets to choose forehand or backhand the the other second must throw the opposite turn. Same criteria applies to the skips throws. Once a player chooses which turn they are using, they must use it for all their bowls that end, even if it happens that it becomes a disadvantage to do so. The scoring team always leads off next end and therefore always get to determine the turn they want.
Game 2: Powerplay/Penalty Kill
Eight ends - 3 bowls each - triples match. Before play starts, each team picks two ends in which they will have a powerplay. Flip a coin to determine which team picks first. In those ends, the team killing the penalty must remove one bowl from each player for that end. Powerplay team throws three each and Penalty-kill team throws two each. If the Powerplay scores they get what they scored. If however the Penalty-Kill scores, they get their points plus a one point bonus.
BBQ Lunch (around 1:00)
Game 3: Vegas Bowls = Bowl it - then Roll it!
Eight ends - 3 bowls each - triples match. Teams randomly rechosen for an eight end game with abnormal scoring. Flip a coin or bowl to determine who starts. Play the end a per normal triples. After all bowls are delivered, a bowler from team closest to the jack will roll the giant die. The resulting throw will determine what crazy outcome will affect the scoring for that particular end. There will be six possible outcomes but only the throw of the dice will reveal which of the six apply to that end. Each number can only be used twice in a game. As each scoring criteria is used up, the remaining choices become clearer and it is now up to each team to determine if they want to play for a particular outcome, hoping the dice run hot for them or try to play to protect all the remaining options.
The team closest to the jack always gets to roll the die. As sometimes both teams will score points, the leads will alternate throwing the jack regardless of who scored in the previous end.
Crazy Scoring options …
Roll a 1. All bowls fully within a yardstick of the jack count one point
Roll a 2. No bowls fully behind the jack count
Roll a 3. Team closest to the jack gets a bonus point added to their score
Roll a 4. The two closest bowls to the jack are eliminated and removed
Roll a 5. Cutthroat 10 scoring, 4,3,2,1 points for the four closest bowls
Roll a 6. Team closest to the jack can chose which of the first 5 options apply
Roll a six is interesting in that the team closest to the jack may have to negate their own score in order to keep the opposition from scoring possibly even more ….
So ideally, your team wants at least one bowl within a yardstick of the jack, at least one bowl in front of the jack but possibly one behind and one as close as possible to the jack but a second one close but not perhaps as second shot and yet you would like all of your bowls really close in case the cutthroat option is rolled. (Good luck with all of that!)
Each end will change the dynamic of what you aim for, especially as the scoring options get reduced. It is a game for good strategy as much as good shot making and of course, good luck too! But mostly, having fun!
